Each Wormgear Turbo Sift™ screen is meticulously sized for your individual roach colony needs. You can separate extra-large roaches down to nymphs with precision and ease.
How it works: Simply dump your colony into the top screen of your sifter and give it a few slides with your Wormgear Turbo Sift carrier. You’re done!
In some cases, the roaches will separate themselves within a few seconds. This will save tremendous time and effort on your part.
Mesh Sizes
For Dubia, Discoid & Orange Heads:
- 18mm (3/4″) – XL

Separate different size cockroaches
Size Class Separation
- Extra-Large Adult Sorting: Use the 18mm (3/4″) mesh to isolate your largest breeding adults.
- Large Adult Collection: The 12mm (1/2″) screen captures large adults while allowing smaller roaches to pass through.
- Medium Roach Screening: Employ the 9mm (3/8″) mesh to separate medium-sized roaches from smaller juveniles.
Red Runner Size Separation
- Large Adult Sorting: Use the 4mm (5/32″) mesh to isolate your largest Red Runner adults.
- Medium Adult Collection: The 3mm (1/8″) screen captures medium-sized adults while allowing smaller roaches to pass through.
- Small Roach & Nymph Harvesting: Employ the 2.5mm (3/32″ or 1/10″) mesh to separate small roaches, with nymphs collecting cleanly at the bottom of your tub.
Juvenile & Nymph Harvesting
- Small Roach Isolation: Use the 6mm (1/4″) screen to collect small roaches and separate them from nymphs.
- Nymph Collection: The 5mm (3/16″) mesh captures nymphs while allowing frass and debris to fall through to the tub bottom.
Mixing Tub For Use with Turbo Sift™
How to find the right size Mixing Tub?
Look for:
10 Gallon, 28 in. L x 20 in. W x 6 in. H Home Depot and Lowes both carry it in US and Canada stores, around $8 US.
Some places refer to it as “Medium” or “Small”
Another common size is 36 in. L x 24 in. W, which is too large. Usually called “Mortar Mixing Tub”.
Some hardware stores sell a slightly shorter model (26 in. L, 9 gallon) that should work fine.
The key is the 20 inches overall width.
Another way to check: measure across “peak-to-peak” should be 18-1/2”.
In UK and Europe, that’s 470mm.
